According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Colorado has experienced a temperature increase of approximately 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s. This rise in temperature poses considerable health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Access to cool public spaces is essential for mitigating the heat-related health impacts faced by these groups, but many Colorado cities lack sufficient cooling infrastructure.
